Slash Chords – combination chords

Slash chords are these pesky chords that look like this Am/G and like wikipedia justly points out does not mean Am (A minor) or G but rather Am Over G. It basically means that we will play the Am Chord over the bass note G.

I like to think about slashed chords as compound chords which is another name for them as well. In this video I will give you some examples of slashed chords to explain the concept. Also slash chords are very often used when you have a walking baseline like in the chorus of Tears in Heaven for example.
